Amazon's newest rival certainly took off this week. And according to Forbes Magazine's Pricing Comparison Research, their claims to have lower prices than Amazon or Wal-Mart are holding up.
In a price comparison of 16,000 items, they were overall 9% lower than Amazon and the best deal by far for pet supplies (12% under). (See how our reader Linda benefited from this below).
Can Jet sustain these lower prices? It all depends on whether or not their pockets are deep enough to take the losses until they achieve volumes they need to make a profit.
In the meantime, the consumer - i.e., you and me -- wins. -
Linda, one of our favorite Juicy Enough Life readers, sent this review in about Jet.com and seems pretty excited by the service.
"They have a yearly membership fee (about $50) but right now if you register with them you’ll receive a 6 month membership for free and there is no automatic enrollment after the free period. Shipping is free when you purchase at least $35.
There are several additional ways to save money, and as you check out you’ll be given the chance to choose these saving options (you save a little if you use a debit card instead of a credit card, you’ll save a little if you waive free returns, etc.).
I bought some expensive 8-month flea collars (that really work) for the dogs and got the best price around.
You get a notification when your items ship and it tells you which retailer is fulfilling.
The only thing I have found so far is that Jet.com may not have as an extensive product line as Amazon.
For example, I couldn’t order this same flea collar for my kitties, so I had to go to Amazon for it. So far, I’m very happy with Jet.com."
We would love to hear about your experiences with Jet.com. Have you used it? Was it worth it?
